It is said that junk mail got the name spam because, like the tinned meat, there are tons of it about and no one wants it. Can't say I agree and neither, it seems, do you. You WANT to see the Spam.
And here it is...
Here's the Spam outfit taking a breather during dinner.
And here's me, bright red with shame and lager. The large stick of bubble gum next to me is Mrs Editor.
Anyway, back to work.
Yesterday was spent touring round the Llyn peninsula, chatting to folks about what's going on and what they think of the Daily Post. Generally pretty positive reaction and confirmed all my beliefs that the heart and soul of this paper is about comprehensive and up to date local and regional news. A lot of people said how much they welcomed our efforts to save rural post offices - which also confirmed my view that battling on behalf of the people of North Wales is vital.
It was also great to see so much activity in places like Abersoch where business are getting shipshape for the tourist season.
The warm weather last summer really boosted the industry and if we get another good summer we need to be ready for lots of visitors coming here to spend their cash rather than handing it over to Gordon Brown's latest tax scandal (mind you, it looks as though the Tories won't be happy until they've made the sky the preserve of the filthy rich again).
The region needs a lift after the grim news today about job losses in the slate industry - a story which dominates the front page. We also break with tradition today by featuring a South Wales story on page one, but I make no apology for that. The murder of a vicar has shocked not only the community of Trecynon but the whole nation and I am sure his family will be in the prayers of congregations at Church in Wales services (and those of other denominations) this Sunday.

Congratulations Editor on your learning Welsh, as my parents came from a very Welsh locality which meant when I was born (in 1930) in East Flintshire the only language I knew then was Welsh, BUT when I went to school in Bagillt and then to a Flint school I was the only Welsh speaker, that's how Anglisised this area was then, but when I was married in 1955 to a lovely ex Liverpool lass (we are still married happily together now) and it was my wife Margaret's insistened that our 5 children were educated at Welsh schools, also when I was an unopposed District and Community councillor a vocation which I loved, and I was also a Govenor at the 2 Welsh schools at Mold and I tried to get their PTA meetings in English as many of the pupils at these Welsh schools were from only English speaking parents, which meant that they were unable to attend the Welsh PTA meetings.
Then in 1980 I was struck with Multiple Sclerosis which unfortuntately put a stop to to all my outside activities such as my Councillor, chairman of our local NFU National Farmers Union President of our local YFC Young Farmers Club on top of my very busy farm work where we had a herd of 72 pure bred Guernsey cows plus their followers, then SOMEONE up there must have thought 'We must do something to slow this guy up', hence the MS, Prostate cancer and my diabetis, but although I am now bedridden BUT I have an excellent wife and our superb 5 children, our eldest son who is almost 50 years old and is a Vet, living with his lovely wife in Melbourne.
Your sincerely,(and I hope that I have not bored you too much)
Glyn.
